Stars
Staring at the night sky, I feel lucky. To witness such a truly wondrous site. Giant orbs of burning gas. Uncountable numbers of them. So unfathomably far away. Some of the light is ancient. Travelling hundreds or even thousands of years to reach my eyes. Not all of the stars I see even exist anymore. It makes me feel small and big at the same time. They’re always there. Even if they aren’t visible. A constant. I am lucky. I am blessed. M3

Let’s all count to one!
One. We did it! Oh man, I miss The Muppet Show. My family has several seasons of the original show from back in the day on DVD. It’d be fun to watch it again! Oh my goodness. That’s what we should watch for our next movie night; The Muppets from 2011 with Jason Segel! I’ve been wanting to rewatch that for a while now. Note to self: Do it. Watch The Muppets with someone. Soon! You’re getting off-topic, Matthew. Stick to your point! My point? Have I a point? Yes. You really do. You reeeeeaaalllly do, Matthew. Do I? Yes. Stop questioning it.…

Distance
I have so many very good friends. They are all over the map and from completely different walks of life. It’s really amazing, and I’m very blessed by all of these people in my life. The only slight downside is distance. I don’t get to hang out with many of my friends these days, especially the people with which I’m closest. It’s frustrating and slightly depressing not being able to just chill with these people. The internet definitely helps to ease that frustration by allowing us to connect very easily, even to watch a movie together, or play games, or whatever we…

I met Tim Russ!
I’ve been avoiding doing things today. Partly because I’ve not been feeling well. I’ve been having headaches on and off the past few days since getting back from Spokane. I didn’t tell you what I did on the weekend! Basically, I was invited to go along with some friends to a Comic Con for a couple of days. It wasn’t anything big, but still. The main draw for me was seeing my friends and Tim Russ. He played Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager and the principle on iCarly, among many, many other roles. We got to talk with him for…

Currently…
Listening to… I’ve had tunes from Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog stuck in my head the past couple of days. Spock and I were singing some of them while walking around Spokane this past weekend and it’s been in my head ever since. Playing with… Today I spent very little time doing anything besides playing Cities: Skylines. It’s a computer game that lets you build your very own city! They recently updated some of the tools, so I tested them out and got sucked in. Looking forward to… I can’t wait to see my sister again! Hopefully, we’ll get to meet…

Pirate milk. It’s a thing.
I mentioned here once before that when I was younger, I started calling chocolate milk “pirate milk”. It was mostly because I’m silly like that, but also partly because our family ran a day home at the time, and the kids liked the name. Pirate milk because chocolate is like gold, and Pirates like gold, eh? Hence the name. To my recollection, I haven’t heard anyone else call it pirate milk outside of my house. But I think that should change. So I’m calling on you, dear reader of my blog, to help start a revolution. Let’s get this thing…

Be back tomorrow, folks!
I’m too tired to write now. I just got home, so that’ll be all for today! M3

Geeky food place in Spokane.
Just at a pub called Garageland for dinner right now. It’s super cool! It’s got a geeky Doctor Who theme going on. The front door is painted like the doors of the TARDIS and there’s an Ood standing in front of a screen that plays Doctor Who. The menu is fantastic. I just got a veggie version of their Spo-Cali Burger which has a fried egg, sliced avocado, smoked tomato jam, and garlic aioli. SOOOO GOOD. I’ve been struggling with food over the past few weeks, so anytime food excites me, it’s a good thing. It’s been a day. M3

Doctor Bear
I have a travelling companion that I bring with me pretty much wherever I go. It’s a stuffed animal name Doctor Bear! And yes, that name is inspired by Doctor Who. The origin story During a big road trip I took in the fall of 2015, I stayed with my mum and sister in Vancouver. I’d also brought along a good friend of mine (Angie). We didn’t have anything planned for that week, but my sister (Rebeckah) announced that she wanted to build a new bear at a Build a Bear Workshop. So of course we drove out to the mall to…

Note to self…
Hey, Matthew. Just wanted to say hey and point out a few things. Firstly, you should try putting more time and effort into this blog thing. Your posts are kinda… lacking. Secondly, you have to do your laundry tomorrow. Please make sure you do it all! If you don’t, you won’t have clean stuff for the trip this weekend. Oh, that reminds me. Please also ensure that you pack for the trip tomorrow!! You won’t really have time on Friday, so it must be completed tomorrow. Thirdly… fourthly… I lost trackly, you should write an extra blog post and keep…

I’m up toobe sixteen now!
I was sitting here feeling uninspired to write. So I decided to count through my blog posts and when I realized that this post would be number sixteen, I flipped! Mentally. I’m toobe tired to physically flip right now. Plus there’s not enough space to do that here in my room. There’s a podcast called The Inner Tube that I used to listen to all of the time. Over the course of the show’s run, several inside jokes have developed, and one of the most prominent ones is the phrase, “we’re up to sixteen now!” The hosts also turn anything…

Eighty-Eight
Eighty-eight is a number. But for me, it’s more. It floods my mind and fills my soul. Wherever I go, I take eighty-eight with me. It is black and white when you look. It’s an infinite array of colour when you listen. When my heart aches, it is my hiding place. My escape. My release. It carries every shade of sorrow, joy, and intimacy. I pour everything into eighty-eight. We move together. We play against each other. It is never finished. It is my pursuit. Eighty-eight is my home. My home. M3

What should I do?
My face skin has always been sensitive and kinda messed up, and shaving every day or two doesn’t help that at all. So I stopped shaving my face almost four weeks ago so it could have a break. Although, that decision wasn’t fully intentional. It had more to do with the fact that I didn’t want to go through the process of shaving anymore. It’s somewhat tiring and frustrating, so I just skipped it. I’ve also never really been able to grow a beard or any kind of satisfying facial hair other than a moustache kinda thing. It’s so patchy. Again,…

Photographing a Toilet Paper Tube
So there I was, outside taking pictures of a toilet paper tube with rain falling. How did I get here? Glad you asked! It was a normal day, much like any other day. It had been sunny and warm so far, and I was… doing stuff. I don’t recall exactly what I was doing, but meh. It’s irrelevant. For some reason, when I saw a toilet paper tube on the floor of my bedroom I had a flashback to last spring. I was part of a wilderness first aid course and we were running a scenario. One of the groups…

How about some corny jokes?
Everyone likes classic jokes that are kind of silly, corny, and obvious, right? Well regardless, here are some of those very things. You’re welcome. Why didn’t the acrobat work during the winter? He only did summersaults! What’s a clock’s favourite spice? Thyme! Why do bees have sticky hair? They use honeycombs! Why couldn’t the pirate recite the alphabet? The pirate always got lost at “C”! What happened to the overturned fruit truck? It caused a big traffic jam! Why didn’t the lifeguard rescue the hippie? He was too far out, man! What do you call a camel with no humps? Humphrey!…

I didn’t forget…
I’ve been thinking about this post all day and I still don’t know what to write. But as usual, something will come to mind once I just start writing. Let’s do this! I was recently given a keyboard! A musical one. And I was pleasantly surprised to see that it has MIDI ports, which means I can plug it directly into my computer. I’ve been wanting to get back into composing music and recording stuff for fun, and this will make it easier to do that. I’m so excited! It’ll be good to finish working on a couple pieces I started in…

I’m not okay right now.
Today’s post is gonna be a quick one. Right now, I’m feeling completely… I’m not sure, actually. Defeated? Yeah, I suppose that’s the best word. There’s probably some other stuff in there too, but that’s the biggest thing. Today has been a good day, for which I’m thankful. The sun has been shining, I woke up with a smile, I had some really good food, I was feeling really positive… so overall a great day! Until I hit a wall this evening. I don’t know what caused the change, but I’m feeling very down now. I don’t know what else…

Celebrating one week…with chocolate!
I just ate a few bites of my chocolate Easter bunny. Why? Because I was craving chocolate. But then I remembered that I hadn’t written today’s blog post AND that it has been one week since I started posting daily. That’s crazy! And the chocolate suddenly became somewhat celebratory for me. This is the first time that I’ve posted to a blog each day for a solid week. Yay for firsts! Naturally, the rest of this post will be about feet. But first, can we just acknowledge the yumminess that is chocolate? Like, really. Who even thought of that? Actually, just…
